We Offer 3 Major Services:
"Rx FOR WOOD FLOORS NO-SANDING" Refinishing
Step 1.
After the furniture and any existing carpeting are removed, in a section of a room we sprinkle on a water based preparation solution which aggressively cleans and abrades (not removing, but giving it "teeth") the existing finish. We then remove the "goopy" solution with several moppings. Typically we will divide a room into 4-6 sectors for this. The floor dries within an hour.
Step 2.
We then make any needed repairs: replacing boards, smoothing scratched areas, and staining worn areas to match the surrounding color.
Step 3.
We apply the first of two coats of a catalyzed water-based polyurethane. We add the catalyst just before application and must use it within a week. The catalyst cross-links the molecules in the polyurethane. The brand of finish is "Wood-Solv" ™, the professional "souped up" version of "Verathane**", made by the same firm. It is top quality and very long lasting and is available in satin, semi-gloss and gloss. It dries sufficiently to walk on in 3 hours. Either later that day or early the next day we apply the second coat. Furniture can be moved back the next day.

VIRTUALLY DUSTLESS SANDING
For floors which are more severely worn or damaged, or the color of the wood should be changed, with state-of-the-art equipment we sand, repair, fill holes and cracks, stain, apply a seal coat and apply 2-3 coats of catalyzed water-based "Wood-Solv" polyurethane finish.
INSTALLATION
We are happy to assist you in selecting among the myriad of choices, based on our experience with cost, installation, wearability, and withstanding foot traffic and moisture. We then install any underlayment required and then hardwood. We take the precautions of considering moisture content, type of subfloor and water barrier membranes.
